Rev. Carlton Rodgers is a rostered member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and is currently serving as the pastor of the Tabernacle Evangelical Lutheran Church, located in West Philadelphia. Rev. Rodgers is a native Philadelphian, and a graduate of Central High School, and Drexel University where he recieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1977. Rev. Rodgers received a Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pa. in May 2005. In addition to his pastoral duties, Rev Rodgers also serves in various other church related capacities. He is currently a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod’s Taskforce on Sexuality, and serves as the webmaster and information technology consultant for the African American Lutheran Association (AALA). He is also one of the founding members of the newly formed “Lutherans In Fellowship Exchange” ministry (L.I.F.E.) In addition, Rev. Rodgers also serves as a member of the Philadelphia Chapter of Big Brothers and Big Sisters AMACHI Advisory Board and is a member of the Sayre High School Health Center Advisory Board. Rev. Rodgers is married to the former Lucille Whitfield, and has three children, sons Dennis and Aaron, and a daughter Jasmine. Rev. Rodgers also has one grandson, Aaron Javan. |
